What i offer
Developmental editing — for early drafts or complex projects. Together we’ll clarify the core argument, improve flow, and ensure your structure makes sense from the reader’s perspective. Project proposals, research papers, book chapters, thesis materials.
Proofreading & polishing — for final-stage work where clarity, concision, and tone need fine-tuning. Grammar, punctuation, and flow. Academic voice and formatting. Citations and consistency.
Scientific figure design — people often read the figures before the text. i love creating clear and understandable figures. Information dense, but not too much. Clean layout, diagrams and graphical abstracts, colour-conscious design for print or slides.

Strategy & Creative Consultation
Strategy should come from a dialogue, not just be a prescription that you pay for. i work with people who are facing complex questions; the kind that don’t have obvious answers and deserve better than a cookie-cutter solution. whether you’re building a platform, refining a research pipeline, or trying to articulate something that doesn’t quite have a name yet, i want to help you get to the sharper questions or explore broader possibilities.
i work best when we’re in it together, clarifying direction, surveying blind spots, and refining the thinking behind your work. We might reframe the original question entirely. We might map out what’s possible. We will certainly end with a concept note or loose plan, but the work happens in the conversation and dialogue that we have.
The process is open ended. Sometimes the insight arrives in the first 20 minutes or we follow a thread for as long as it needs. Keeping a dynamic and open process allows us to be flexible.
My background is in chemistry, one of the most creative sciences. i hold a PhD in synthetic methodology and have worked in academia but love liminal spaces where people often feel unsettled or lost, it’s where i feel the most joy. Whether you’re in pharma, deep tech, or the arts — if you want someone who can think with you and speak your language, i’m here for that too.
The classic problem-complication-solution framework is boring and doesn’t provide you with the right framework to create meaningful change. i believe in asking better questions. Strategy is a creative endeavour, where we move toward something clearer and more aligned with how you actually work.

Science Writing
Good writing still takes time.
i write about science, language, education, and the spaces between them. If you need someone to write with you — not for you — on something that matters, get in touch.
Most of what i write starts with a question that won’t leave me alone, like why chemists keep inventing new names for old fields, or what an image generator is actually doing when we call the result art. The essays on this site are where that thinking ends up. However, the same habits work on other people’s material, and that is usually the more useful place to put them.
What i take on
Science communication — a paper, a method or a whole field, explained for people outside it without sanding off the difficult parts.
Long-form essays — pieces that need an argument rather than a summary, whether that’s for a magazine, a blog or a report.
Concept notes and grant narratives — the part of a proposal that has to make a reader care before they reach the methods. i’ve spent enough time inside research groups to know where these tend to go soft.
How it works
i read what you already have, then we talk. i’d rather work out what you want to say before polishing anything, so expect questions before you see any sentences. After that you get drafts early, and we go back and forth until it sounds like you on a good day.
If the subject involves chemistry or how ideas move between people, i’m probably interested.
Workshop Facilitation
i design and run workshops for interdisciplinary groups who need to think together rather than just present at each other.
The format i’ve developed draws on Freirean dialogue — starting from what participants already know and building outward collaboratively rather than top-down. It works well for creative communities, research groups, and anyone trying to bridge a gap between disciplines or between science and other ways of knowing.
In practice that means very few slides. A session opens with a question the group already has a stake in, people work on it in small mixed groups, and what comes back gets built into something shared. My job is to keep the conversation moving and to notice when two people are using the same word for different things, which in a room of chemists, designers and teachers happens more often than you’d think.

It suits a research group working out where it goes next, a department or a studio trying to work across a boundary, or a community that wants to talk about science without being lectured at.
How it works
Tell me who will be in the room and what you’d like them to leave with. i’ll come back with an outline, we adjust it together, and the length and shape follow from the group rather than from a template.
