What is iniphi?
1. Prefix: in-
From Latin in- (preposition) meaning “into”, “within”, or “toward”
2. Root Verb: facere / ficāre
From Latin facere (“to make”, “to do”) and ficāre (a causative suffix: “to render”, “to bring into a state”).
In compounds, -ficāre gives us verbs like:
– clarify (from clarus + ficare) – to make clear
– sanctify – to make holy
– modify – from modus (measure) + facere → “to bring into a new form or mode”
So: in- + -ficare → “to bring something into being,” or “to render into form.”
And the φ?
The Greek letter phi (φ) is the golden ratio (balance, natural proportion). It acts as a quiet gesture toward form.
Who am i?
I’m an organic chemist at heart, but my interests stretch far beyond the lab. This site is a space for exploration, a place where ideas cluster around the human experience, and where I refine both my work and my thinking. I’m using this platform to share writing, promote my “consulting” and editing services, and develop projects in public. Some posts are reflections, others are book reviews or research notes. All are my own.
I approach things with an interdisciplinary mindset and curiosity trying to always learn, ask better questions, find the red thread. If that resonates, feel free to connect
I hold a PhD in organic chemistry, but have interests across a broad range of topics. I like to think and will be using this space for developing ideas and as a platform for interaction.
I completed my undergraduate studies in chemistry at the The University of Liverpool in 2017. Following this I undertook my PhD studies under the supervision of Professor Ruben Martin, completing my thesis titled “Catalytic transformations enabled by dual nickel-photoredox manifolds” which was defended in November 2022.
From May 2023 I moved to Basel (CH), to work with Professor Thomas Ward on the development of new to nature reactivity using Artificial Metalloenzymes, specifically a palladium catalysed process within streptavidin.
At present, I’m taking time to reassess, refocus, and engage with a wider range of projects: scientific, creative, and critical. I believe in building knowledge through connection. That means clear thinking, meaningful conversation, and pushing past disciplinary boundaries.
This is the space where I try to do that.
